Join the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup (GLPC)  and the Bay Area Restoration Council, and a small team of volunteers to assist in the waste characterization and data collection process of debris captured by Seabins at Harbour West!

A Seabin acts as a floating garbage bin in the calm waters of marinas and ports. When installed, it pumps water through the device, intercepting floating debris, macro- and microplastics. We gather this debris to collect and sort the waste. It is important to determine the types of items that frequently enter the Great Lakes and negatively affect our waterways.

The GLPC will provide all necessary equipment. Please bring your reusable water bottle, wear sunscreen, and dress appropriately for the weather. Volunteers can park in the parking lot in front of the Waterfront Banquet and Conference Centre and Royal Hamilton Yacht Club (58 Leander Drive Parking Lot). We will meet near the entrance of West Docks.

Please note that the time may vary, depending on how much debris the seabin collects.

Please email Alyssa at hamilton.glpc@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns!
