Environmental Program Assistant

Laian is an Environmental Science student at the University of British Columbia with a strong focus on sustainability. Her work centers on connecting local environmental action with broader climate solutions. Passionate about environmental advocacy and public engagement, Laian brings extensive hands-on experience through her volunteer and leadership roles.

At UBC, Laian works as an Engagement Coordinator with Common Energy, helping plan and deliver sustainability-focused events that raise awareness and inspire climate action on campus. She has also been an active member of the Science Undergraduate Society, helping make events more accessible and inclusive. In addition, Laian has conducted undergraduate research on the environmental and social impacts of mangrove loss, presenting her findings at a large research conference.

Outside of work, Laian is a Taekwondo instructor and a third-degree black belt who enjoys staying active, spending time with friends, and baking!
