Wow – since we launched our annual Zero Waste Days in 2021, together we’ve diverted a whopping 36+ tonnes of electronics waste from going to the landfill!
OUR NEXT ZERO WASTE DROP-OFF DAY:
Saturday, October 17, 2026
Held in partnership with the Burlington Centre and Tech Genius Burlington Inc, we’re excited to host these impactful events each year during the spring and fall at the Burlington Centre’s convenient parking area (corner of Guelph Line & Fairview). We accept computer and cell phone electronics, and more to support a circular economy where items are repaired, reused and/or responsibly recycled. See the list below for items we accept.
Discover below how you can further grow the impact of these events by organizing collections with your networks!
There’s more. A series of Terracycle Zero Waste bins are also on site to accept more unique waste items not currently accepted in Halton Region’s recycling program. And you can even drop off wooden chopsticks to the ChopValue bin we will have available at the event.
Pesky candy wrappers, Brita water filters, reusable plastic containers and lids and used PPE can be dropped off, along with batteries and ink cartridges.
We also collect household batteries. Check out these lithium-ion safety tips.
Zero Waste Activities Inside Burlington Centre
After dropping off your items outside, come inside between 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM to explore our interactive Towards Zero Waste space. Families can enjoy games and hands-on activities for all ages, while adults and youth can dive deeper into solutions.
Enjoy a hands-on sorting game helping you determine which common items go in each, play our zero-waste themed trivia wheel (with prizes), sign our petition and more!
Find us inside of entrance 1, in the old Cogeco unit, next to Michael Hill Jewelers and across from the Community Hub.
As a Registered Charity, BG relies on community support and donations to keep our programs running, so we gratefully welcome a $5 donation. BONUS: free pollinator-friendly wildflower seed packets are available at this event!
