Marketing & Events Coordinator
As Marketing & Events Coordinator, Alejandra puts into practice the lessons she has learned throughout her academic and professional experiences, both in Canada and abroad.
Alejandra’s interdisciplinary background includes working in higher education, grass-roots civil society organizations, and volunteering in Latin America. She also completed a Master’s in Development Practice from the University of Waterloo, and has an Honours B.A from McMaster University in Communications and Anthropology. All of these experiences have helped Alejandra value the importance of efficient and meaningful communication, research, critical thinking and intercultural relations.
Driven by the promotion of sustainable and resilient livelihoods as well as advocacy for environmental and climate justice, Alejandra works to help make her city of residence an example to follow in the battle against climate change. She believes that we are constantly learning from each other, and by working together, we can succeed at protecting our planet for future generations.
Alejandra has also developed a passion for photography, which she now uses to capture memorable moments in nature and different environments. She is looking to improve her skills so she can continue to share those brief, but amazing moments.
As stewards of the earth, we have the responsibility to honour and respect the four directions, land, waters, plants, animals, and all of the wonderful elements of creation that exist.
We honour all the First Nation, Métis and Inuit people who have been living on the land since time immemorial and we recognize their leadership in protecting and caring for Mother Earth.
In Burlington, our work with the community takes place within the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, represented by Treaty 14 and 19 and on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabeg (Ah-nish-in-nah-beg), Attawandaron (At-tah-wahn-da-ron), Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-oh-sho-nee) and Metis peoples.
We honour these rightful caretakers of this sacred land surrounding the Great Lakes, and we are grateful for their teachings.
We encourage everyone to continually learn from and about the Indigenous community where you live, and how we can each meaningfully honour the calls to action for Truth and Reconciliation.
