Save 5,000 Acres of Farmland in Halton

On February 9th, Halton Regional Council will vote on Halton’s preferred growth plan for the next 30 years. Together we must speak up to convince regional councillors to vote against the staff recommendation and choose no urban boundary expansion to protect 5,000 acres of prime agricultural land from development. Urban sprawl is costly to the environment, the taxpayers, and municipalities. And given the escalating implications of the climate crisis, It is essential we conserve farmland while improving the existing communities within the current urban footprint.

We must plan for a future that supports density within the current urban boundary, creating more affordable housing and more inclusive transportation options. If this land is lost to development, we cannot get it back.
