It’s vital we have government policies and associated practices in place that are science-based, forward-thinking and that fully reflect what COVID-19 has reminded us – that human health, climate change, economy, and social/racial justice, are all inextricably linked. Effective policies, research, planning, investment, reporting and decision-making must act on this understanding, intentionally and consistently.
BurlingtonGreen would like to see the adoption of the 3B growth concept that would prioritize firm urban boundaries, thereby protecting our irreplaceable farmland, forests, meadows, and more. We are also pleased to see that Regional Council passed a motion to develop a comparative assessment of the greenhouse gas emissions expected to be associated with each Growth Concept.
We encourage you to contact all Halton Region Councillor Members to let them know that you support firm urban boundaries being established and respected. There will be no turning back if these important natural areas and increasingly critical local farmland are developed.
Together we make a difference!
