Environmental Defence Canada: “Despite Canada’s reputation as a leader in the fight against climate change, we’ve missed every climate target ever set. And instead of decreasing over time, Canada’s emissions have only grown. With less than a decade left to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we can’t afford to keep underperforming on our climate commitments.

Thankfully, the federal government recently tabled the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act (Bill C-12) — which would hold governments accountable for failing to deliver on emissions reductions. But there are key elements missing from the legislation, and without them, Bill C-12 will fail to do the important job it’s meant to.”
