Shoe Strike in Burlington

SHOE STRIKE ON SEPT 25th: DAY OF CLIMATE ACTIONimage2

Members of the BurlingtonGreen Youth Network together with other local groups are organizing a safe and peaceful demonstration in this new age of COVID-19. We are inviting youth and residents across Burlington to show a message of solidarity by participating in a Shoe Strike!

We need YOU(R shoes). During a time when we cannot be together, it is critical for us to collaborate. This unique youth organized climate strike invites everyone in Burlington to join in demanding that all levels of government act immediately on the urgent climate crisis.
We must continue speaking for what we need — as a way to shoe-t for our climate goals!

Shoes can be dropped off at Rolling Horse (650 Plains Rd E #2) & 2466 Newport St. (Headon Forest) beginning on Monday, Sept 21st. We ask that each pair of shoes include a piece of paper indicating any environmental issues that are particularly important to the person the pair of shoes represent along with your name. We encourage you to reach out to other members of your household, neighbours, etc. and encourage them to show their support for Climate Action by contributing a pair of shoes to the demonstration. This demonstration is directed at all levels of Government. Event organizers will make best efforts, but cannot guarantee the shoes return. Pick-up times & locations to be announced. Option to have your shoes donated to Compassion Society of Halton post-demonstration.
