  • April 13, 2022: BG Executive Director delegates before Halton Region Council regarding Regional Official Plan Amendment, which implements the results of the Integrated Growth Management Strategy and Regional Council’s direction to accommodate population and employment growth within Halton’s existing Regional Urban Boundary to 2041 and to develop a framework for planning for growth from 2041 to 2051.

  • April 7, 2022: BG Executive Director delegates in support of Burlington City Council supporting a Bird-Friendly city certification and action plan. A WIN for our feathered friends & the environment!

  • February 28, 2022: BG Executive Director submits input to City regarding proposed changes to the Tree Protection Bylaw.

  • February 28, 2022: Joint submission on Environmental Assessment requirements for proposed “advanced recycling” facilities.

  • February 16, 2022: A WIN! A Halton Council vote of 15-9 in support of locking the urban boundary from needless sprawl to 2041! BurlingtonGreen delegated at Regional Council and submitted input  as part of collective efforts to  protect 5200 acres of farmland.

  • January 10, 2022:
    Learning of the potential 5000+ acres of primary Halton farmland, and green space at risk due to Halton Region’s Preferred Growth Concept, BurlingtonGreen submitted a letter to Burlington’s Mayor and Council Members seeking their support to reject the proposed plan.   • January 7, 2022:  PERL (Protecting Escarpment Rural Lands) and BurlingtonGreen team up to send a letter to Burlington’s Mayor and Councillors regarding the Cedar Springs New Natural Gas Pipeline. You can read the letter ਇਥੇ.
  • November, 2021:  BG joins Nature Canada and organizations across Canada calling on the federal government to make its’ commitment  to halt and reverse nature loss by 2030 a reality.   • September 2021: BG produces a variety of federal election resources including videos capturing local candidate responses to our top 3 questions.

  • September 8: BG co-moderates 100 Debates for the Environment-Burlington to hear the views of local federal election candidates

  • September 8: BG joins more than 60 communities across Canada, hosting a peaceful rally to speak up for immediate government action to address the escalating climate emergency.

  • May 17: BG launches the BCCAH (Burlington Community Climate Action Hub) -a resident-driven, non-partisan community movement focused on local action on climate change.

  • April 30: BG participates in Roundtable on the Environment and Climate Change hosted by Honourable Karina Gould, Member of Parliament for Burlington

  • March 20: BG and our Youth Eco-Network join residents and groups across the GTHA in a peaceful rally to speak up for the protection of wetlands, woodlands and farmlands at risk due to the proposed Highway 413.
