Join our Board of Directors

Some of our wonderful Directors are wrapping up their terms serving on our Board and so we are thrilled to announce that we have some new openings NOW!

If you live or work in the Burlington or Halton area and are searching for that ideal, rewarding volunteer opportunity to align your passion for the planet with a commitment to support the local community, then you very well may have found what you’re looking for right here at BurlingtonGreen.

Our Board of Directors is a collaborative welcoming team of dedicated individuals, each contributing to make a difference for a cleaner, greener, more environmentally responsible Burlington.

We are seeking new, enthusiastic individuals to join our leadership team and we’re especially keen to receive inquiries from Indigenous and youth leaders, social entrepreneurs and those with legal, accounting, HR and fundraising experience.

The annual time commitment is approximately 100 hours, including Board meetings and committee work. Directors serve for a one-year renewable term, with a commitment to an initial 3-year contribution.

As a member of the BG Board, you will take part in the following:

• Help steer BG to help the community to meet the critical challenges and opportunities of the climate and ecological crises

• Contribute by bringing your unique voice, professional and lived experience to the leadership
table

• Help guide the long-term strategic plan, annual budget and performance targets

• Monitor financial performance, progress against goals/objectives, and policy compliance including oversight and annual review of the Executive Director

Board members are expected to:

• Attend Board meetings and participate in Board activities

• Collaborate on decisions to build the collective impact and further BG’s mission

• Help to maintain constructive group process and excellence in governance

• Undertake additional special responsibilities, including serving on Board committees and participate in BG events and activities.

BG is committed to creating a workforce and governing board that reflects the diversity of the populations we serve. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, including applicants from all cultures and backgrounds, racialized communities, diverse sexual and gender identities, and physical or mental abilities. We are committed to a selection process and work environment that is inclusive and barrier-free. We also encourage applicants to self-identify if they wish to do so.

We look forward to hearing from you!
