We are very proud to shine the light on Cogeco Connexion this month, our 2017 Community Clean Up event Gold Level and Media Sponsor.

Cogeco Connexion has been a fantastic long-time supporter of BurlingtonGreen. Since 2011, they have proudly sponsored our citywide Community Clean Up event each year. They have also served as top sponsors of our major events such as the dual-component Youth Eco-Summit and Eco-Awards Celebration events which brought world renowned Jane Goodall and Rob Stewart to the Burlington stage to inspire thousands!

This year, they are continuing to demonstrate their leadership for the environment by sponsoring the Community Clean Up event AND our hugely impactful Event Greening program, where to date a whopping 61 tonnes of waste has been diverted from the landfill. And, not only does Cogeco Connexion invest in a healthier environment for all of us through their sponsorship support, they also roll up their sleeves and take action! Check out the results of their 2016 Community Clean Up crew in the picture below. Wow!

 Other initiatives:

  • cogeco cu2016 bannerA lead sponsor of the Halton Children's Water Festival to teach kids about the environment.
  • Their Burlington office hosts its own in-house Earth Week Carnival Day each year, where employees can visit various information tables from groups and businesses in the community (including BurlingtonGreen), to learn about environmental topics and ways to reduce their personal footprint.
  • A generous supporter of several other causes in our communities.

Community Builders

As such, it is only fitting that Cogeco Connexion was presented with the prestigious Ontario Chamber of Commerce Community Builder Award, in November 2016. The Community Builder Award is given to a large business whose community investments have yielded the greatest social return on investment.

Cogeco Connexion's leadership in community engagement has been highlighted on numerous occasions in recent years. "So much so, that our community focus is now part of our DNA," said Cogeco Connexion President, Ken Smithard. "We believe it's a privilege and a responsibility to invest in the communities we serve."  (from Cogeco media release, Nov. 2016)

Congratulations, Cogeco Connexion!  A well-deserved award and a great example for other businesses to follow. We truly appreciate your support and look forward to our continued partnership to raise awareness of, and protect, our environment.

Together we make a difference!
