Tess was born and raised in Burlington, where she still lives today, raising a family of her own. Tess spent more than a dozen years working in Toronto, starting out as a clerk in the Office of the Children’s Lawyer at the Ministry of the Attorney General, then moving on to several prominent Bay Street firms. More than five years ago, Tess’s career moved home to Burlington, where she is a manager in legal and regulatory affairs. A lifelong learner, Tess has been pursuing continued education at McMaster University, where she recently obtained a Business Administration Diploma and Canadian Risk Management Designation.
Tess can often be found hiking at green spaces throughout the Halton region, with a special fondness for Bronte Creek Provincial Park where she got engaged. Tess is a devoted mother and instills a love for nature in her teen girls. Tess is keen to learn and brings her skills in regulatory affairs and risk management to the Board to benefit BurlingtonGreen.
As stewards of the earth, we have the responsibility to honour and respect the four directions, land, waters, plants, animals, and all of the wonderful elements of creation that exist.We honour all the First Nation, Métis and Inuit people who have been living on the land since time immemorial and we recognize their leadership in protecting and caring for Mother Earth.
In Burlington, our work with the community takes place within the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, represented by Treaty 14 and 19 and on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabeg (Ah-nish-in-nah-beg), Attawandaron (At-tah-wahn-da-ron), Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-oh-sho-nee) and Metis peoples.We honour these rightful caretakers of this sacred land surrounding the Great Lakes, and we are grateful for their teachings.
BurlingtonGreen has much to learn from Indigenous People and we encourage everyone to continually learn from and about the Indigenous community where you live, and how we can each meaningfully honour the calls to action for Truth and Reconciliation.
