This page is dedicated to support Burlington communities in their efforts to take action to help the environment and to provide awareness on local eco-issues, events and volunteer opportunities. The information will be updated regularly so we hope you will visit often. If you have not done so already, we welcome you to register and log-in to our website (lower right) and become a member so you can receive ongoing issue & event bulletins, greening tips and quarterly newsletters. We invite you to share your input on our changing eco-polls, submit your neighbourhood photos on our gallery page and post your community eco-events on our web calendar! Do you know of someone in your community who should be recognized for his or her efforts in helping the environment? This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. To learn what ward your neighbourhood is a part of, you can visit the Rep locator tool on the city website:http://www.burlington.ca/replocator/index.asp Confirming your ward # will help link you to your community specific events and to your elected officials who you can contact about environmental issues and decision making that concerns you. A huge THANK YOU to all who participated in the April 24, 2010 city wide community clean-up - together we CAN make a difference! Some of you have let us know what the most common waste items you picked up were....single use plastic water bottles, plastic "sandwich"/snack bags, cigarette butts and paper cups. What did you find? Let us know here.
To truly make this website interactive and to better serve your needs, we invite you to let us know what ideas you have and information you would find helpful for us to include on this website. We are committed to growing our website, programs and services to do what we can to help you help the planet at a local level. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Do you have a neighbour who idles their car for long periods of time? Encourage them to check out this link and hear what kids have to say about idling cars and invite them to visit the DADA (Dad's Against Dirty Air) website, a Burlington based organization dedicating to spreading the word and taking action on this pollution & health issue.
Share your support for the cosmetic pesticide ban and do what a local Burlington resident has done. Click here for a copy of his poster promoting a chemical free lawn!
