What an incredible day and evening on September 19 with Dr. Jane Goodall here in Burlington !
BurlingtonGreen could not be more grateful to Dr. Jane for honouring us with her words of wisdom and inspiration that have impacted so many in so many special ways.
The ripple effect of her message of hope for us as a generation and individuals to get out there and make a difference to help the planet is evidenced by incoming heartfelt comments from so many. "this experience changed my life is so many ways", "I have never felt more motivated to live differently - I can do this. I am going to do this", "thank you BurlingtonGreen for providing this amazing opportunity, I will never forget it", "I have decided I am going to pursue a career to help the environment because of Dr. Goodall and because of BurlingtonGreen", "thank you for this. My daughter and I will have this memory to take with us forever. We are going to do some things differently at home" ....and they go on and on..
Yesterday truly was a dream come true for the BurlingtonGreen team and for me personally. It was a true privilege to provide this opportunity to more than 1400 people. An opportunity for all of us to take pause, look inward and really think about our place in the world and what we can do to better respect the one and only planet we all share.
Quite a few people have asked me if I was star struck upon meeting my eco-hero. At first I thought I was and then I realized that wasn't the case. Dr. Jane spoke about the power, the impact of looking into another's eyes, seeing their soul and knowing that you must reach out and help, do something, make a difference. For me that was it. When I looked in her eyes and she in mine, I experienced a connection - less of an eco-hero , more of an affirmation that she is a one-of-a-kind human being that is on this planet for a reason, an important one, to remind each and every one of us that we have a responsibility and the ability to make positive change happen. She chooses to live her life leading by example, traveling the world sharing her stories, her unique insight based on experiences that only she has lived so that we can benefit from the inspiration they provide. I will never forget September 19, 2012 with Dr. Jane. I will forever remember it as the experience that strengthened my conviction to live more softly on the earth, working hard to do all I can to try to make a positive difference.
Thank you to all who supported and participated in this incredible experience. Dreams do come true.

The daytime IMPRINTS Youth event was AMAZING !
700 grade 7-12 youth and their teachers from all over Halton attended this rare event opportunity and with 3 standing ovations and cheers and shouts from the youth audience as they hung onto every word from Dr. Jane, well...they were certainly inspired !
Now we are inviting (urging) all youth to transfer the inspiration from Dr.Jane into positive action to help the environment back at school and in their communities. We CAN make a difference!
A HUGE thank you to the BGYN (BurlingtonGreen Youth Network) team led by Kale Black as well as our friends at the Jane Goodall Institute who provided Roots & Shoots workshops . You all did a great job eco-mentoring hundreds of youth!

Dr. Jane Goodall is a world-renowned primatologist, conservationist and humanitarian, as well as the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute. She became famous for introducing us to our closest animal relative, the chimpanzee, through her work in Tanzania which started in 1960. Today, the chimpanzee is critically endangered and in the absence of swift action could be extinct within a generation.
