1. “Buy Less” is Best: Reduce your GHGs by 50 kg/year!
Hurray for smart shoppers! Tons of junk ends up in the garbage, so try buying things that will last a long time and don’t have lots of packaging. Purchase second hand items, share, trade, rent and borrow.

2. Recycle for Real: Reduce your GHGs by 125 kg/year!
Landfills full of garbage release LOTS of green house gases. Properly sort your recyclables and waste to cut down the amount of trash you throw away to the dump.

3. Cool Compost: Reduce your GHGs by 40 kg/year!
Composting is like recycling your food! Every time you compost, you make a difference to improve soil and water quality while saving tons of waste from going to the landfill.

4. Cut Back on the Car: Reduce your GHGs by 125 kg/year!
Driving cars creates a lot of pollution on our planet. Luckily, there are many “green” ways to travel around town. Try walking, biking, taking the bus or carpooling instead of getting a ride in a car.

5. Be an Energy Saver: Reduce your GHGs by 40 kg/year!
Beware of Phantom Power! Remember to turn off and unplug everything that is not in use since TVs, chargers and appliances that are plugged in still use electricity even when they’re off.

6. Air Pollution Solution: Reduce your GHGs by 60 kg/year!
Idling gets you nowhere! Remind drivers that exhaust from cars is full of very dangerous chemicals that pollute the air we breathe and it is also expensive since it wastes fuel.

7. Turn Down the Temp: Reduce your GHGs by 190 kg/year!
One degree makes a difference! Lower the temperature on the thermostat at night or when no one is home and only use air-conditioning when you really need it. This is an easy way to greatly reduce the energy used for heating your home.

8. Mm mm, Meatless Munchin’: Reduce your GHGs by 880 kg/year!
Holy cow! Most of the meat we eat comes from factories that create more green house gases than all the planes, trains, cars, trucks and boats in the world combined! Try to have one meatless day each week.

9. Take Back the Tap: Reduce your GHGs by 130 kg/year!
Did you know that tap water is better for you and for the planet? Compared to bottled water, it is cleaner, safer to drink and also free! You can replace hundreds of plastic water bottles with just one reusable one.

10. Be Washing Wise: Reduce your GHGs by 150 kg/year!
Cool! Cold water cleans laundry just as well as hot water, and it saves a ton of energy. Be a washing warrior and ask your family to use eco-friendly detergents too!

Thank you for completing the Go Green Challenge! All of your eco-actions and pledges for the planet make a huge difference to help reduce green house gases and keep our earth COOL.
