Green Venture is presenting a pair of free community workshops on Saturday February 5, 2011, 2-4 pm and Saturday February 12, 2011, 2-4 pm to help interested residents take the first steps towards getting a solar PV system for their home or property. Green Venture’s Certified Energy Advisor (CEA), Ken Baigent, will host the workshops at EcoHouse, Green Venture’s education centre, located in east Hamilton at 22 Veevers Drive. He will discuss not only the available technologies of solar PV and the Ontario Power Authority’s microFIT program, but also show participants how to register themselves for microFIT. Ken will discuss potential pitfalls and help participants overcome them. By the end of the workshop, participants will be registered to be part of Ontario’s exciting new solar initiative. There is no cost to participate in the workshop, nor is there any additional commitment by participants to the Ontario microFIT program or Green Venture. Participants are asked to bring with them a copy of their local electric utility bill, as the data in your microFIT application needs to match exactly with the name, address & account number of your utility bill. Participants are also asked to ensure they have web access to or a web-based email address (E.g.- a hotmail, gmail, or yahoo account) for use in registration, as the workshop will require a confirmation email to be sent to their email address during the event and it will need to be accessed during the workshop. Light refreshments (fair-trade coffee and tea) will be provided for participants. microFIT is a provincial program which rewards residents who produce electricity for the grid through solar PV with a green price and a 20-year guaranteed contract.
