Handpicked: Not Far From The Tree
Wednesday 10 November 2010Hits : 149

Not Far From The Tree continues to grow and receive accolades for the work that we do. With a crew of 700 volunteers, we picked nearly 20,000 lbs of fruit from Toronto trees this year - that's more than our 2008 and 2009 harvests combined! All of the fruit was shared, including 1/3 that went to provide fresh fruit for our 25 partnering food banks and shelters, meaning that their 8000 members - our neighbours who are most in need - had access to fresh fruit in their diets on a regular basis. This was all from 227 trees in downtown Toronto.

And yet, that's only 1/4 of the trees registered with us from all across the city. There is so much potential to expand this successful project to all parts of Toronto. All we need is your support to facilitate the program's continued success.

Just in time for you to donate, we've prepared a fabulous fundraisercalled Handpicked next Wednesday, November 10th. It is sure to be an excellent evening - hors d'oeuvres by Jamie Kennedy, remarks by Mayor Miller, original artwork in the silent auction, and so much more. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here or by calling (416) 363-6441, ext. 224. It's going to be a great night and we hope that you'll join us there.

If you have a moment, please share the attached invitation with your friends, families, co-workers, and networks. You can find the event on Facebook, too: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=167199886641829

And if you are unable to attend but would still like to support Not Far From The Tree, you can donate through our parent charity The Popular Education & Research Catalyst Centre here: www.canadahelps.org/CharityProfilePage.aspx?CharityID=s50680 or by calling (416) 363-6441, ext. 224.
