Earth Hour
Saturday, 27 March 2010, 8:30pm
Hits : 43

By choosing to participate in the Earth Hour, you are taking action to demonstrate you care about the health of our planet.  Sure it is a small step individually, but last year alone, hundreds of millions of people on our shared earth turned out their lights to show they recognize that climate change is real and that they support change.

As the team at the World Wildlife Fund Canada states "It's about giving people a voice for the future of our planet, and sending a message to our world leaders that we want action on climate change" .

Given that our global political leaders have not negotiated a deal on climate change, arguably this year's Earth Hour event is more important than ever before. Strong participation may help to remind Prime Minister Harper that support for real change to address climate change has not gone away since Copenhagen and when he hosts the next G20 country meeting in Canada in June, that  we want negotiations and a committment.

How do you plan to spend your time during Earth Hour?

Fireside board games? A peaceful family walk? Kitchen table gatherings to make personal pledges for green actions throughout the year? A special club or school event? BurlingtonGreen invites you to share your ideas for Earth Hour . Who knows? Your ideas may inspire action by others! You can even plan to snap a few photos and send them in to us here.
