2009 SMOG SUMMIT AND BEST PRACTICES EXCHANGE ON JUNE 3RD, 2009 As co-host of the Smog Summit and the GTA Clean Air Council I would like to extend an invitation to you to join us at the 10th annual Smog Summit being held on the morning of June 3rd, 2009 in Toronto City Hall’s Council Chambers. Annual Smog Summits and the ongoing work of the GTA Clean Air Council has helped to raise awareness of air pollution and climate change and the urgent need for solutions in the Greater Toronto Area. Each year, the GTA Clean Air Council makes progress on research, capacity building and the implementation of clean air and climate change actions. The 10th annual Smog Summit invites you to: § Hear about the clean air and climate change actions being undertaken by GTA-CAC jurisdictions; § Hear a keynote presentation from Storm Cunningham, author of ReWealth – Stake Your Claim to the $2 Trillium Development Trend that’s Renewing the World and CEO of Resolution Fund, LLC in Washington, DC. Resolution Fund helps communities, counties, tribes, regions, and nations ignite rapid, resilient renewal of their economy, their natural resources, and their quality of life; and a keynote from Peter Victor, author of Managing Without Growth-Slower by Design, not Disaster; and § Receive an update on 2008 Inter-governmental Declaration on Clean Air action items and learn more about the 2009 Inter-governmental Declaration on Clean Air action items and targets. A Best Practices Exchange will follow the 2009 Smog Summit; the theme will be ReDevelopment – the enhancement of a populace’s quality of life via economic growth that’s based primarily on the renewal of a region’s natural, built and socioeconomic assets. Presentations will highlight actions being undertaken across the GTA and region to reduce the ecological footprint of new developments in order to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions and create more competitive and liveable communities. Please REGISTER if you are able to join us at this important event. For more information on the Clean Air Partnership and the Smog Summit, please visit www.cleanairpartnership.org.
